Middle East Payment Services Organizes Training Course on PCI Internal Security Assessor Program For the first time in the Kingdom
Amman, August 2015 - For the first time in Jordan, Middle East Payment Services (MEPS) - a leading, innovative payment services provider in the Middle East - organized a training course on the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) Internal Security Assessor (ISA) Program. Held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Jordan at the Kempinski Hotel Amman on 18 and 19 August, 2015, the training course drew the participation of a group of internal auditors and internal security and risk assessment personnel from large local and regional merchants, acquiring banks and processors, among others. The ISA Program aims to bolster the expertise of relevant employees and institutions with regard to the PCI Security Standards, to raise the level of institutional compliance in relation to the aforementioned standards, as well as develop their methodologies for data security maintenance. Furthermore, the training course showcased international best practices in this field, and discussed the required tools and procedures to be undertaken by companies to ensure data and systems protection, in efforts to reduce the risks of non-compliance with security standards. The training course seeks to educate participants on how to perform internal assessments for their companies and reveal the extent of its compliance with the PCI Security Standards, subsequently becoming certified experts who are able to liaise between their companies and the PCI SSC auditing personnel. Prior to attending the training course, participants passed a prerequisite exam. Alternately, upon the completion of the training course, participants underwent a certification exam to qualify them as Internal Security Assessors. “We believe that the best way to face the challenges relating to data security protection and compliance with the PCI Security Standards is to educate relevant companies’ staff. In doing so, we are equipping them with the necessary means to enhance their expertise to be capable of assessing the standards applied in their companies. For this reason, we decided to organize a training course on the ISA Program, as it complies with our goal to improve payment data security and raise awareness on its importance across Jordan and the region, particularly in light of growing network security threats, payment fraud risks and data breaches,” commented MEPS CEO, Khaled Zakaria.
